Casper Area Chamber of Commerce: 122 Years of Growth, Advocacy & Community Impact

Casper, WY – The Casper Area Chamber of Commerce has been shaping the economic and social landscape of Natrona County for over 122 years. Founded in 1903 as the Casper Industrial Association by A.J. Mokler, the Chamber was built on a vision of transforming Casper into a thriving economic hub—with goals ranging from paved streets and a courthouse to even becoming the state capital.

Since then, the Chamber has played a pivotal role in key developments, including:

  • 1926: The Chamber played a pivotal role in infrastructure projects, including the Casper-Alcova irrigation project and adjustments to freight rates, allowing local businesses to compete on a national scale.
  • 1944: Casper businesses partnered with the Casper Air Field to create a military support committee, reinforcing the Chamber’s role in community partnerships.
  • 1955: The Chamber launched an Economic Development Committee, hosting business-focused events like the Small Business Dinner and raising $3,000 in a single day for its annual membership drive.
  • 1968: The Chamber’s Visitor Bureau Department helped bring over 100 conventions to Casper, contributing an estimated $700,000 in local economic impact.
  • 1988: The Casper Chamber Leadership Program was founded, training future business and community leaders.
  • 1999: The Chamber kicked off the Shop Casper First campaign, encouraging residents to support local businesses.

From securing Casper’s first Chamber building in 1920 to leading business-friendly policies, the Chamber has remained dedicated to empowering businesses, fostering community collaboration, and advocating for a strong local economy. As we continue to evolve and grow, the Chamber remains committed to connecting, educating, and supporting businesses in Natrona County.
