SUMMARY:Artcore: Willson & McKee at First Presbyterian Church
DESCRIPTION:Ken and Kim met in Phoenix\, Arizona. Ken was the booking agent for a local acoustic performance venue\, and Kim had to audition for him to perform there! Needless to say the audition went well\, she got the gig\, they fell in love with each other and the music life and immediately they began performing and touring their new hybrid style of music. Since that beginning\, they have concentrated on providing excellent educational and cultural programs\, residencies\, lyceums and workshops\, alongside energetic audience friendly concerts. A Willson & McKee concert is more than a performance\; it is an evening with friends. There is a feeling of sitting by the fireside sharing music and stories\, rich with history and good humor. Come away on the journey \n\nWe began making music and touring together in 1990. In the decades since that beginning\, we have appeared on multiple state Arts Rosters\, juried showcases\, educational programming and performed in many states on stages ranging from Quonset huts to 1500 seat auditoriums. As artists in residence we have averaged 15\,000 contacts per year\, reaching students of all ages including pre-schools to universities\, mental hospitals to detention centers\, senior citizens to residential schools. We have produced twelve professional recordings\, won awards in the U.S. and Ireland for song writing and instrumental work\, and amid all that we are just downright fun and passionate people!\n\nThe years of 300 days on the road are winding down\, but we still intend on making music nearer to home\, performing\, teaching\, sharing and never letting go of the wonderful life of music making!
