DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, October 21\, 2018 at 4 PM   6 PM\n\n \n\nWheeler Concert Hall - Casper College\n\nCasper\, Wyoming 82601\n\n \n\nSympatico Percussion Group (Scott Herring\, Joseph Krygier\, Johnny Mendoza\, Christopher Norton\, Susan Powell) creates programs with entertainment and intrigue\, virtuosity and poignancy\, and appealing melodies and vibrant rhythms from around the world. Their diverse and eclectic repertoire includes rudimental drumming\, ragtime xylophone\, pop transcriptions and wonderfully uncategorized original compositions that embrace global streams of contemporary musical styles. Enthusiastic audiences exclaim that Sympatico concerts are "beyond imagination absolutely engaging!". As Sympatico\, they have performed at several Percussive Arts Society events and for university\, community\, and festival concert series. Collectively\, their collegiate teaching experience exceeds seventy-five years with appointments at The Ohio State University (Powell\, Krygier)\, University of South Carolina (Herring)\, Belmont University (Norton) and McMurry University (Mendoza). All members are also active chamber and orchestral musicians\, performing throughout North America and abroad. \n\n \n\nSympatico member Susan Powell started playing percussion in Alaska at age 10 and delighted Casper teachers and audiences from the time that her family moved to Casper when she was 12. While in high school\, she gave Wyoming the honor of having a National Winner of the Music Teachers National Association High School Competition\, and represented the state as Wyoming's 'Governors Scholar' at the Interlochen Arts Camp. She has returned to Casper on multiple occasions with ARTCORE as a member of the Sympatico Percussion Group and Pendulum Duo\, and currently resides in Columbus\, Ohio where she is Professor of Percussion at The Ohio State University.\n\n \n\nCo-Sponsored by the Casper College Foundation\, the Casper College Music Department\, and Hill Music.\n\n \n\nPartial funding is from the Schneider and Cate Funds in the Wyoming Community Foundation-Casper\, and Natrona School District No. 1.
