DESCRIPTION:Violinist Likai He (b. Dec. 30\, 1994) began to play violin at the age of four\, studying with his father Jianjun He\, a former music professor at Casper College. Described by the Florida Times-Union as a "gifted musician with a very bright future\," Likai has performed extensively throughout the United States and China as a soloist and chamber musician. As a soloist\, he has performed with the Jacksonville Symphony\, Cheyenne Symphony\, Georgia Philharmonic\, Columbus State University Philharmonic\, among others. An avid chamber musician\, he has appeared at Artist Series of Sarasota\, Jacksonville Friday Musicale\, and ARTCORE (WY)\, as well as the Aspen and Bowdoin Music Festivals\, performing works ranging from the Baroque era to contemporary composers. He has also collaborated with esteemed musicians such as Cho-Liang Lin\, Alex Kobrin\, and Wendy Warner. Among his many awards and honors include winner of Jacksonville Symphony Young Artists Competition\, Artist Series of Sarasota Competition\, Georgia Philharmonic Young Artists Competition\, Young Texas Artists Competition\, and the Presser Award.\n\n\n\nAt the age of 16\, Likai was admitted to the Schwob School of Music at Columbus State University\, studying with Sergiu Schwartz\, and awarded the prestigious Woodruff Award. He received his Master of Music degree at Rice University's Shepherd School of Music under the tutelage of Cho-Liang Lin. Currently he is pursuing a doctoral degree in violin performance at Rice.\n\n\n\nCo-Sponsored by the Casper College Foundation\, with hospitality from the Casper College Music Department\, the Ramkota Hotel & Conference Center\, and the Casper Journal. Partial funding is from the Schneider and the Grace Amspoker Funds in Wyoming Community Foundation   Casper\, the Wyoming Arts Council through the National Endowment for the Arts and the Wyoming State Legislature\, and Natrona County School District No. 1.
