DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, January 13\, 2019 at 4 PM   6 PM\n\n \n\nWheeler Concert Hall - Casper College\n\nCasper\, Wyoming 82601\n\n \n\nDouglas Bull has served as the Casper College Music Department Chair\, Director of Bands Bands\, Brass Ensemble and Instructor of Studio Brass Studies at Casper College in Wyoming. After 46 years of teaching Doug retired in May of 2018 but continues to perform\, teach clinics\, and conduct throughout the country. He received a B.A. degree in Music Education and Trumpet Performance from Towson University. Graduate work at Towson University\, seminars\, private study\, seminars at The Peabody and University of Maryland and recital performances culminated in Advanced Professional Certificates and Master Degrees in Conducting and Music Education. He has studied with Dominic DiGangi\, Raymond Moore\, and Emerson Head. Bull started his music career in the very early 60's with the RCA Recording rock band "The Lafayettes." They enjoyed success as a live performance group as well as having top forty recordings that included "Life's Too Short"\, "Caravan Of Lonely Men"\, "Nobody But You" and others. Doug served in the United States Army as a lead trumpet player and soloist in Europe. While pursuing a professional performance career\, he has played\, conducted or recorded for: The Baltimore Symphony\, Bob Hope\, Frank Sinatra\, Tony Bennett\, Barbara Streisand\, Andy Williams\, Robert Goulet\, Patti LaBelle\, Aretha Franklin\, Rosemary Clooney\, The Four Tops\, The Temptations\, Phil Collins\, The Spinners\, Tom Jones\, musicals\, original cast albums\, movie soundtracks\, commercials and many other credits too numerous to mention. Bull has also performed at five Presidential Inaugural Balls. He was the trumpet soloist for the Haydn Festival Orchestra concert commemorating the 200th Anniversary of the composer's death. For his work as a conductor/musical director in musical theater Doug has won multiple Critic's Choice Awards for Best Musical Direction and Show of the Year. While doing all of this he taught in public schools and his students generated more than one hundred and fifty Music scholarships. In 2006 he accepted the position at Casper College. Doug is an endorsing artist for Phaeton Trumpets\, makers of fine custom trumpets.
